- Marks the first time an ISO 14034:2016 Environmental Technology
Verification (ETV) has been completed globally for the oil and gas industry - Marks the first time an ISO 14034:2016 ETV has been completed in North
America by an accredited verifier
Raleigh, NC (April 27, 2020) – 350Solutions is pleased the announce that they have completed the company’s first ISO 14034: 2016 Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) for select models of Questor Technology Inc. Clean Combustion Thermal Oxidizers. This project completion also marks the first time the International Standard Organization’s (ISO) standard has been applied within the oil and gas industry on a global scale, signifying potential for adoption of the environmentally-focused standard across industries.
“There is value in every industry working on ways to improve or reduce their environmental impact, with implementation of innovative technologies being a part of the solution” said Tim Hansen, Founder and CEO of 350Solutions. “In traditional manufacturing and energy industries, which are often more risk averse, deployment of impactful new technologies may need an additional layer of certainty that comes from independent verification. Use of ISO 14034 for technologies applicable to industries like oil and gas can help spur the deployment of innovations that can reduce the environmental impact of the industry, while also helping its bottom line.”
In addition to the verification marking the first time that a technology has been verified in the oil and gas industry, this also marks the first time that an accredited company completed an ISO 14034: 2016 ETV in North America. 350Solutions is currently the only company in North America to be fully accredited under ISO 17020: 2012 to perform ISO 14034:2016 ETVs in a standardized fashion. The accreditation maximizes the credibility of the technology performance verification by having an outside accreditation agency, in this case ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), evaluate the verifier’s impartiality, technical competence, and their quality systems and procedures.
The ISO 14034: 2016 ETV standard is a globally accepted protocol that enables international recognition of verifications for innovative technologies with an environmental impact – especially those that are new enough that a product certification or other standard has not yet been developed. ISO 14034:2016 ETV was developed through the ISO as a way to drive innovation and measure impacts of technologies toward achievement of environmental benefits, include things such as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were established in 2015. It’s been adopted by at least five independent countries and the entire European Union. In the United States, ISO 14034: 2016 ETV replaced the verification program previously administered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as the preferred verification protocol.
350Solutions verified specified Clean Combustion Thermal Oxidizer models Q50, Q100, Q250, Q500, Q1000, Q3000, and the Q5000 from Questor for performance regarding combustion efficiency, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) conversion efficiency, and greenhouse gas emission reduction with waste gases from a variety of typical oil and gas industry field operation.
